Self-Reflection: my start to September

During March 2020, I had little to no free time. I craved for moments where I could just sit idle and just be able to say ‘I am bored’. While during lockdown/summer vacation, I had ample free time and was able to do things at my own pace. Now I feel life is going monotonous, everyday feels the same and there is not much to do.

While self-reflecting, I learned the importance of balance. It is important to free our mind and just sit and do nothing. (Fun fact, being bored can boost your creativity).

The importance of connections old and new: Over the past few days, I have sent messages out of the blue to individuals who I lost ties with, with whom I was no longer friends and created new connections. There is no guarantee the person will respond the same way, but you have nothing to lose.

Self-improvement is only effective when its implemented. I have read several books, articles and seen podcasts but only when I started to implement, I felt the satisfaction. An idea is worth a million dollar only after it earns a million dollars.

Patience is a very underrated skill. Patience not only helps one financially, it gives an EQ advantage. Patience allows us to be more empathic, take careful decisions and choose our words wisely.

Rejection is just life telling this can be improved, altered or redesigned. It is not signaling an end or a means to reevaluate your entire life.

Forgiveness is powerful. Instead of losing my mental energy, I have decided to forgive people even when they don’t deserve it. Reason? It allows me to be able to focus on myself and leave it to the past. Forgiveness allows you to free your mind from certain negative thoughts. Keep in mind, I did not say forget.

Often the problem with being strong is no one asks if you are ok. This is a problem especially faced by celebrities. For example, Lionel Messi is known as one of the most loyal players and has given everything for his club. The club’s president took advantage of this and did not consider his inputs for changes. As a result, this made Messi unhappy and wanting to leave. When the club realized he wasn’t bluffing and they were about to lose their best player, they found a legal loophole to force him to stay. In his latest interview he talks about how he was betrayed by his own club and will continue to play for Barcelona.
